Renumbering burden when clients change providers (comment 9 reported by Y. Rekhter)

Description

In the Introduction:

  1. Easing of renumbering burden when clients change providers.

Because host EIDs are numbered from a separate, non-provider-
assigned and non-topologically-bound space, they do not need to
be renumbered when a client site changes its attachment points to
the network.

At least with respect to LISP+ALT, this statement is incorrect. Sites are simply locked in to their EID provider instead of being locked in to their ISP as they are now. The lock-in would appear to be more severe than it is today, since unless strong aggregation is preserved, LISP's entire value proposition is lost.

Authors replied on the mailinglist that in their opinion there is no need to make any change to the draft. Neither the original person that raised the issue nor the mailinglist stated a different opinion.

I disagree with the authors that "there is no need to make any changes to the draft". I think that the issue raised in this ticket is still not addresses, and therefore the ticket should stay open.

The revised text as of -11 as been reworded to clarify the scope of this renumbering coverage. This seems to sufficiently address the issue, as the text is not misleading and it would be inappropriate to try to address all of the system complexities in the introduction.
