Acid tests for VNs

A resource can participate in multiple VNs at the same time

A resource can participate simultaneously in multiple VNs while obeying the principles of virtual networks (see Principles of Virtual Networks).

(This is not true for VPNs on hosts, technical wise, unless a host becomes a router (and the sysadmins will go balistic))

Decoupled addressing and naming between VN and underlying network

It must be possible to decouple the addressing and naming, so that the VN uses a completely independent scheme to address nodes.

(This is not true for a TCP connection, as it requires IP address and port numbers fitting to the underlying IP layer) (It is also not possible to run a TCP connection within a TCP if both are using the same socket pair locally and remote)
