Priority: major Milestone: milestone1
Component: draft-iab-dns-applications Version: 1.0
Severity: Active WG Document Keywords:

I personally support the five comments proposed in this document.
While, I think an additional comment should be added for the better guidance of the future applications:
"The new applications which depend on the DNS should firstly count on the mature features of DNS,
including name,class,type and so on."

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is probably a bit too conservative to reflect the realities of the DNS today. The best thing along these lines we can really say is, I think, what is already said in the first bullet point: that if the authoritative server is using "exceptional logic" to formulate responses (things beyond name, class and type) that intermediaries should not be required to understand those things in order to cache or propagate data.
