Subject: [IAB] FW: New Version Notification for draft-iab-ip-model-evolution-02

This version takes into account the following sets of feedback.

Emails from:
Danny McPherson? 11/ 8/08
Jonathan Rosenberg 11/13/08
Lixia Zhang 11/19/08
Stuart Cheshire 11/19/08
Dave Oran 11/19/08
Erik Nordmark 11/19/08

Plus plenary discussion as noted at

One comment I did not act on was Dave Crocker's suggestion
to say more about assumptions about the use of (DNS) names, presumably things like
an assumption that everyone gets the same answer. The current draft is focused
on the "IP model" and it's debatable as to whether DNS names are part of the "IP"
model, or something on top of it. At the moment, the draft implicitly takes the
latter view (hence Dave's request would be out of scope, but a good topic for
a different document). Section 3.2.9 does have some minimal discussion, however,
where it talks about upper layers using names vs. addresses. If someone knows
of a good reference on the more general issues, we could cite it there.

Also I did not scour
to see if there's any useful feedback (though those threads are feedback on
the news articles, not the draft itself, and the news articles did not necessarily
convey the same information or convey it correctly).

Hence I believe that all significant feedback on the -01 version of the draft
has been addressed (or at least an attempt made), and it is ready for another
review. Also, the IAB membership has changed since -01 and so there may
be different feedback now of course, and I have two separate IAB members
lists at the end of the doc.
