obsolete 2617?

Reported by: julian.reschke@… Owned by: draft-ietf-httpbis-p7-auth@…
Priority: later Milestone: 25
Component: p7-auth Severity: In IETF LC
Keywords: Cc:

We currently say "updates 2617", as we do not include the definitions of Basic and Digest, and thus 2617 is still needed.

The HTTPAuth WG however *is* working on replacements for these documents. After LC we should revisit what we can say about the relation to 2617.

"Updates" is not "Obsoletes."

Understood, but people will ask why 2617 isn't obsoleted. If the reason is "it takes three documents", and the two others are being worked on, we may want to actually try that.

Well, we can "try" that after we publish this round of RFCs.

Set to WONTFIX for now, as the HTTPAUTH WG's documents are not ready yet.
