Description (last modified by julian.reschke@…)

This is a rollup issue for tracking terminology we use throughout the specs.

Place new terms in the description, not comments.

  • "status code" not "status"
  • "request method" not "method"
  • "header field" not "message header" or "header"
  • "a server" not "servers", "a cache" not "caches" (as the subject of a requirement)
  • "stored response" not "cached copy"
  • "private cache" not "non-shared cache"
  • "user agent" not "browser" (unless we talk about browsers specifically), also not "User-Agent" unless it is about the field name
  • "host name" not "hostname"
  • "file system" not "filesystem"
